Dalooda Privacy Policy

Dalooda is a second-hand marketplace app for New Zealand and Australia. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. We keep the amount of personal information we hold to a minimum.

Who we are

Information we collect

Account & sign-in. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. Your email address and password are held by Google, not by us — we never see or store your password. We store only a Firebase user ID, your chosen display name, and (optionally) your region and suburb.
Listings & content. Items you post — titles, descriptions, prices, photos, category, delivery and trade preferences.
Photos you scan. When you use Scan & Identify, the photo is processed to identify the item and estimate a value (see "AI processing" below).
Messages & activity. Messages, offers, watchlists, saved searches, and ratings you create with other users.
How the app is used. We record a small number of events in Google Firebase Analytics so we can tell which features people actually use — for example that a scan finished, that a listing was created, or that a search returned no results. These carry counts and categories only. We deliberately do not send the words you search for, your listing titles, your messages, your name or your email.

We do not collect payment card details. We do not run advertising, we do not sell your information, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

How we use your information

To run the marketplace — show your listings, deliver messages and offers, and match buyers and sellers.
To identify scanned items and provide AI value estimates (which are guidance only, never a guarantee).
To keep the service safe — moderation, and blocking or removing content that breaks our rules.

AI processing

To identify items and estimate values, a scanned photo and/or item details may be sent to trusted AI providers (which may include Google Gemini, Groq, and OpenRouter) for processing. Barcodes may be looked up in the free Open Food Facts database. These providers process the data to return a result and under our agreements do not use it to build advertising profiles of you.

How your information is stored

Your data is stored on secured cloud servers (Railway) and transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Sign-in is secured by Google Firebase.

Sharing

We don't sell your personal information. Content you choose to publish (like a listing, your display name, and ratings) is visible to other users. We share data with service providers only as needed to run the app (hosting, sign-in, AI identification), and where required by law.

Your choices & rights

You can edit your profile and delete your listings, finds, and messages in the app.
You can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing support@dalooda.co.nz.

Children

Dalooda is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

We may update this policy; the effective date above will change when we do.
